What is the penalty for late submission of IBM returns?
Under MMDR Act, failure to submit returns is an offence punishable with fine up to ₹5,000 for the first offence and higher for continuing offences. IBM can also initiate action under MMDR for rule violations.
What is the IBM Unified Portal?
The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) Online Portal (https://ibm.gov.in) is the mandatory digital platform for filing mining plans, annual returns, quarterly production data and applying for mine closure. Physical filings are no longer accepted for most submissions.
What happens if royalty payment is delayed?
Interest at 24% per annum is charged on delayed royalty. Persistent default can lead to suspension or revocation of mining lease under MMDR Act provisions.
