FAQ

What export duty applies on iron ore from India?

The Government of India raised export duty on iron ore to 30% (lump and fines) and 45% on iron ore pellets in May 2022. Always verify the current rate from CBIC Custom Tariff notifications.

Can iron ore be exported freely from India?

Iron ore export requires Customs clearance and Shipping Bill. High export duty discourages large-scale exports to protect domestic steel industry. Some low-grade fines may be less restricted.
