What is the typical mine water inflow rate?

Inflow varies significantly with rock type, depth and season. Coal mines may face 200–2,000 m³/hour in waterlogged regions. Hard rock mines typically 50–500 m³/hour. Monsoon inflows can be 5–10× normal.

Can mine water be reused?

Yes. Treated mine water can be used for dust suppression, explosive preparation (controlled), and after treatment, for industrial cooling. CPCB/SPCB discharge norms must be met for any disposal to surface waters.

What pumping system is used in deep mines?

Multi-stage dewatering: sump pumps at pit bottom transfer to intermediate sumps, main dewatering pumps lift to surface. Submersible and vertical turbine pumps are common for open-cast; shaft pumps for underground.
