How do I calculate seed rate?
Total seed = field area (acres) × recommended seed rate (kg/acre). Multiply by price per kg for cost.
What affects the seed rate?
Crop type, seed size, germination rate, row spacing and sowing method all change the recommended seed rate.
Should I add extra seed?
A small buffer (5–10%) is common to allow for poor germination and gap filling.
