What is MRP and is it mandatory?
MRP (Maximum Retail Price) is the maximum price a retailer may charge consumers. Under Legal Metrology Act, it must be printed on pre-packaged goods. Selling above MRP is an offence.
What is the difference between trade discount and margin?
Margin is profit as % of selling price. Trade discount is % off MRP given to channel. A 30% margin = 30% trade discount off the MRP to arrive at retailer landing price.
How do I set price bands for different channels?
Set separate price lists: Manufacturer Selling Price (MSP) → Distributor Price (DP) → Retailer Price (RP) → Consumer Price (MRP). Each level should have 10–40% margin to stay motivated.
